What I Do: I work with the incredibly talented Fine Woodworking staff, along with some of the country’s best professional illustrators to combine text, photos, and art on a page in the best possible combination that will clearly instruct and inspire others to make awesome things out of wood.
Interesting Fact About Me: In my teens and 20s, I could jump really high. I loved hurdling the occasional mailbox, clearing the hood of a Volvo 240 (an afterschool bet in the parking lot), and playing basketball. I had long hair and could pull off a two-handed reverse dunk wearing Birkenstocks, which earned me the nickname “Air Jesus.” I’m pretty sure I was being made fun of, but it’s the best nickname I’ve had to date.
What I’m Passionate About: God’s creation and being creative. My amazing wife and four fascinating children.
What I Like About Working for Taunton: The people are awesome. Also, I think making beautiful objects by hand is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and Taunton’s products inspire people to do just that. As one of the Fine Woodworking crew, I get to be part of a team of good friends who work together to make a magazine packed full of education and art that enriches lives. That’s a very cool thing, and I’m thankful for it.
I also love the deadline. It’s rewarding to work hard toward a goal, as a team, and produce the finest woodworking magazine on the planet within two months—and then start again to make the next one even better, and more beautiful.
