Jeff Gillman has spent the better part of 30 years researching weed, disease, and insect pest management. He has a master’s degree in entomology and a Ph.D. in horticulture from the University of Georgia. He is the author of five books on gardening and the environment and a well-respected contributing editor to Fine Gardening magazine. Chances are you’ve seen Jeff lecturing across the country or possibly on gardening television shows like Martha Stewart and Growing a Greener World. Before becoming the director of the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens in 2015 Jeff spent 15 years as an associate professor in the Department of Horticultural Science at the University of Minnesota. When he’s not testing, trialing, and researching all things gardening, you’ll find Jeff searching for the best barbeque in town.
