About Us
The Taunton Press evolved out of one man’s love for woodworking and his frustration with the lack of quality information on the craft. To remedy that, Paul Roman and his wife, Jan, created Fine Woodworking magazine.
Since that day in 1975, the company has developed into a 21st century media company providing high-value special-interest information to enthusiasts through a series of successful magazines, books, and digital products. See the evolution of Taunton >
Our Magazines
Today we publish five magazines – all standouts in their respective fields: Fine Woodworking, Fine Homebuilding, Fine Gardening, Fine Cooking and Threads. We are constantly innovating and evolving to meet the needs of our ever-growing audience, both in the U.S. and abroad.
Our Digital Products
We go beyond the page to bring our audience the digital products that enhance their connection to us -- and improve the work they do. Our words come alive in apps, digital products, video, and more. And our reach extends beyond our shores, bringing Taunton to a worldwide audience.
Our Books
We published our first book in 1977 and since then, we've expanded beyond our core interest areas to bring our rich, in-depth approach to an even wider range of topics. In addition to our published books, we are distribution partners for key international publishers.
Our Culture
Taunton remains a family business built on the core values of Integrity, Teamwork, Excellence, Independent Thinking, and Creativity. We are constantly growing and always looking for talented professionals to join us in our Connecticut and New York locations.
