Since that day in 1975, The Taunton Press has evolved into a 21st-century media company with category-leading brands that inspire and inform over 14 million passionate makers.
We’re known for our five iconic magazines – Fine Woodworking, Fine Homebuilding, Fine Cooking, Fine Gardening, and Threads and our related line of books. Our more recent ventures include an Emmy-nominated TV series – Moveable Feast with Fine Cooking – our in-person events, plus videos and podcasts that reach an ever-growing community of enthusiasts. We’re constantly meeting the demands of the enthusiasts we serve.
The Taunton Press is in the business of providing high-quality, high-value information to special-interest enthusiasts – people who have made a commitment in time and/or space to learning about and practicing their craft and express their creative imaginations. Our five fields of focus are: woodworking, home building, cooking, gardening, and garment sewing.
Profit is our measure, not our motive. If we all do our jobs well, we’ll be profitable and generate the capital to try new ideas and create new things. We grow not only because we keep creating new things of some value to society, but because if we don’t, we’ll stagnate. A growing workplace in one that vital and creative people find challenging, rewarding and fun.
We are a family-owned business and we treat our fellow employees, customers and suppliers as we would like to be treated ourselves, and we do it in a friendly, trusting and open manner that brings out the best in people. We are a risk-taking, questioning company that continually challenges accepted values, methods and goals, while always searching for innovative ways to conduct our business. Taunton remains a family business built on the core values of Integrity, Teamwork, Excellence, Independent Thinking, and Creativity – the values on which Paul and Jan Roman founded our company.

Our Core Values
We treat each other fairly, honestly, with respect. We do the same for our customers.
By working collaboratively, combining our talents, experience and ideas, we provide greater quality.
We strive to provide the greatest value in the subject areas we cover.
Our readers value creativity. We do, too. And we recognize that creativity can only exist where people are free to think independently, to offer new ideas and new approaches. That’s the only way to improve.
Through our products we teach our customers fundamental techniques and principles that empower them to create, improvise, and get better at the activities they pursue. In the same way, we value, honor, and promote creativity in our work at Taunton.
