ARTICLE PREVIEW
from Threads February/March 2007 (#129)

Copy Your Garments with Precision
With a flexible ruler, you can capture the shape of any garment again and again
by Jean Haas

After Joyce Murphy's "Adjusting Pants from Waist to Seat" article in issue 122, Jean Haas received a glut of orders, and the article just included one small tip box about the flexible ruler. Jean has developed many different ways to use this tool (it has a lead core that holds a stable shape) to improve sewing, fit, and pattern drafting. In this article, she shows us how to use them to quickly mark seam allowances, to shape necklines, position princess line seams, downsize sleeve caps, and outline bra cups.
