Shortcuts to a Designer Jacket
If you love the softly quilted French jacket but long for quicker results, look no further
by Cheri Dowd

Cheri Dowd, long-time sewer and former elementary school teacher who now makes and sells custom jewelry and accessories, made a Chanel jacket the traditional, couture way over ten years ago. Although she wore the garment at every opportunity, she realized that she didn't make another due to the time-consuming hand-finishing of the lining and outer edges. Last year, she figured out a way to reorder and streamline the construction steps, while still keeping all the details (chain, trim, quilting) that make this garment style so distinctive and comfortable. In this article, Cheri shares her discovery, as well as her method for braiding trim from the fashion fabric's yarns.
