ARTICLE PREVIEW
from Threads August/September 2006 (#126)

Quick to Make
Elegant, wide belts
by Joyce Murphy

Wide belts inspired by the Japanese obi were introduced in Spring 2005, and continue to be an important accessory in 2006. Joyce Murphy, tailor extraordinaire, figured out two quick, easy ways to make them. For a dressy look, she sews a simple shaped scarf; adds D-rings for a tight, comfy closure; then pins on a decorative bow. For a more tailored belt, she just sticks with the simple scarf shape, and ties it into a neat knot.
