Linings: The Inside Scoop
Crack the code on these slippery fabrics and put 'em to work for you
by Sandi Bolton

Lining is an essential part of a well-made garment. It prevents wear and tear, allows a garment to move smoothly on the body and over other clothes, provides a barrier between scratchy fabrics, and hides all messy inner workings. And if you choose a lining correctly, it can also add warmth or keep the skin cool. Sandi Bolton -- custom clothier and former owner of a full-service fabric store -- will take us on a tour of the various lining fabrics on the market and tell us when to use each as well as how to handle them.
