ARTICLE PREVIEW
from Threads February/March 2006 (#123)

Make Fabric from Scratch
Thread, soluble stabilizer, and a serger are all you need
by Karen Tornow

Threads author Karen Tornow always inspires us with fabulous design and embellishment techniques to enhance our fabric. This time around, she tells us how to make our own fabric for exquisite scarves using just thread and a serger -- no fabric. Metallic threads, yarns, and thread remnants from earlier projects stitched over water-soluble stabilizer turns utilitarian sewing into a confection of adornment.
