Batting for Quilted Garments
Consider loft, fiber content, and flexibility when selecting filling for warm and comfy quilted clothes
by Mary Ray

Quilted garments can be made in a variety of styles, but to get the look you're after, you need to use the right batting. Mary Ray discusses the characteristics to look for in batting and provides lists of recommended brands. She sorts the products by the type of garment they're best suited for: puffy and full; tailored and structured; or soft and drapey. Included in the range are both bonded and needlepunched types, as well as cotton, polyester, wool, and blended fibers.
