An Online Extra to Threads Magazine
The 2004 Striped Fabric Challenge
Members of the Professional Association of Custom Clothiers show their stripes at this year’s conference in
Savannah
by the Threads editors
Each year, Threads challenges the always creative members of the Professional Association of Custom Clothiers (PACC) to come up with designs that respond to a set of (seemingly arbitrary but actually carefully thought-out) rules. This year, for the fifth challenge, we asked them to use striped fabric to create a distinctive, innovative, and wearable garment or ensemble. We judged the contest here in the Connecticut office, but the finalist garments made their debut at the annual PACC conference held in Savannah, Georgia, in June 2004.
As ever, the entries were many and varied, confirming our confidence in the design and sewing skill of PACC’s members. It’s always a treat to observe their ingenuity and talent. For the many who didn’t attend the style show in Savannah, we’ve recreated the lineup here as a slide show; we know you’ll enjoy seeing the finalists as much as we did.
