Threads Design Challenge VII

Fred Bloebaum's goal: "a timeless, elegant ensemble that could be worn countless places"

Fred Bloebaum's ensemble Cuff detail
Fred quilted the ribbed wool gauze to a silk backing and fashioned a softly structured version of her own Penelope Jacket pattern, which tops a matching, sleek skirt with a shaped hemline (Loes Hinse Wrap Skirt). Wide, shaped cuffs on the jacket, embellished with curlicues of applied braid, interpret the look of the early 1900s with a modern twist.

For the post-lecture picnic, Fred's Liberty print blouse reverses to linen (interchangeable strips of buttons make for a quick and easy change), and is paired with a gored, pleated linen skirt with a ribbon-drawstring waistline (Kathryn Brenne's Travel Skirt). The skirt folds up neatly into a narrow panel and is easily transportable.
