African Fabrics in Action

What can you do with colorful West African textiles? Take a look...

by David Page Coffin

(opens in new window)
Printed and hand-dyed fabrics from Mali and Senegal are the subjects of Wendy duFour's "A Celebration of West African Fabrics" in the June/July 2003 issue of Threads (#107). She discusses several traditional fabric types and explains how they're made. During the planning for the article, Wendy duFour invited her African fabric customers to bring examples of their work with these textiles back to the shop to be photographed as a showcase for their versatility and drama. Many thanks to all those who shared their creations with us. We hope you
enjoy this gallery!

David Page Coffin is senior editor of Threads.
