From the pages of Threads Magazine The Latest In Independent Patterns A sampler of designs showcased at the 2003 Sewing and Stitchery Expo The Sewing and Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, Washington, is a fantastic opportunity to see newly released patterns by independent designers, along with creatively sewn samples. For those of you who couldn't make it to the 2003 Expo, or those of you who would love to see these wonderful patterns again, we've put together a sampler of designs, currently available or forthcoming, along with contact information. For those of us who grew up using only patterns from the big commercial publishers, it's a real treat to see how these boutique designers (many of them contributors to Threads) offer unique yet wearable styles, and share their own tried-and-true sewing techniques. Many of these patterns include mini-sewing lessons within their instruction guide sheets, so the user can learn new methods and end up with a beautifully constructed garment, too.
For more noteworthy items Threads editors found at this year's show, see Sewing and Stitchery Expo 2003.
