Exploring Design: Inspired by Threads Fashion Challenge 2002 Finalists
View the finalist garments from the 2002 design contest, and get inspired for this year's challenge

For the third year, Threads and the American Sewing Expo sponsored "Inspired by Threads -- A Fashion Challenge," and once again, we were wowed by the entries we received. The challenge invited readers to send us garments they created using information and ideas from the previous year's issues. We greedily tore open 111 entry packages, narrowed the field (with difficulty, of course) to 19 finalists, and selected 5 winners, which were announced at the American Sewing Expo (www.americansewingexpo.com) in Novi, Michigan, in September 2002. Take a look at this year's finalist and winning garments, get out your back issues of Threads, and consider sending us an inspired garment this year.
