GARMENT CONSTRUCTION TIP
Ease a Jacket Sleeve Cap like a Pro

Here's a trick for smoothly setting in a tailored sleeve. Sew gathering threads in the seam allowance of the top of the sleeve, as you usually do. Adjust the gathers so that the cap is smaller than the armhole. Then pin the cap into the armhole, matching the notches. Expand the gathers as needed, making sure that most of the gathered ease stays in front of the shoulder seam.
