Our Products
The Taunton Press publishes special-interest magazines (Fine Woodworking, Fine Homebuilding, Threads, Fine Gardening, and Fine Cooking), books, DVDs and Web sites. Our publications are recognized as some of the best in industry. Our Readers One of the most impressive aspects of The Taunton Press is the group of readers our publications attract. Our customers are, as you'd expect, avid readers and doers. They are bright, independent, curious people who derive a great deal of satisfaction from creating things with their own hands – many are accomplished experts in their crafts. Rather than wanting only project-specific directions, The Taunton Press readers relish learning new techniques and methods, then applying these to their own needs. Since our magazines and Web sites have always made a point of giving our readers a forum to express their thoughts, many readers feel a connection with our publications that goes well beyond being merely customers. Whether accomplished masters or aspiring novices, our readers inspire us as much as we inspire them. The average Fine Gardening reader spends 11.5 hours per week in the garden. 95% of Fine Homebuilding readers do all/most/some of the work on their projects themselves. The average Fine Woodworking reader spends an average of 12.5 hours per week in the shop. Our Authors The authors who contribute to The Taunton Press are first and foremost passionate experts in their craft. They offer firsthand insights based on years of experience. This unique perspective is fundamental to all of our publications. Our editors work closely with authors to ensure that our magazines and books have a consistent voice, but that voice is broad enough to encompass a range of styles. At the end of the day, we realize that it is our authors who possess the information and advice for which our readers come to The Taunton Press. Our goal is simply to provide a forum that allows them to convey their knowledge and passion to fellow enthusiasts.
