Fine Cooking Nominated for 3 EDDIE Awards for Editorial Excellence

NEWTOWN, CT (November 17, 2010)...Fine Cooking has been nominated for three 2010  EDDIE Awards for: Consumer, Epicurean, Full Issue (March 2010); Consumer, Epicurean, Single Article (“Cooking Without Recipes: Cheesecake” March 2010); and Best Online Tool (Create Your Own Recipe: Chocolate Truffles, finecooking.com). The announcement was made by FOLIO: Magazine who presents the awards each year.

“We are honored to receive nominations in both epicurean magazine categories, full issue and best article, and for finecooking.com’s groundbreaking Recipe Maker tool,” said Laurie Buckle, editor of Fine Cooking.  “From the beginning, we’ve stayed true to our mission: To make an inspiring cooking magazine and companion website that stay ardently focused on cooking. We are pleased to see the resonance this has with readers and visitors to our site, and we are thrilled to receive this recognition for our efforts from FOLIO and our peers.”

“In addition to recognizing a very engaging issue of Fine Cooking, it was great to see the whole concept of Cooking Without Recipes and Create Your Own Recipe with Recipe Maker be nominated. True of both the magazine concept and the app, unique creative thinking like this helps distinguish our brand from the hundreds of others out there,” added Paul Spring, SVP Chief Content Officer of The Taunton Press, publishers of Fine Cooking.

Fine Cooking is a cooking magazine like no other: It’s all about cooking. The magazine and its website are a passionate celebration of food and a master’s class on how to prepare it for people who love to cook…providing inspiration for cooks of all levels in the form of recipes (triple-tested, seasonal, and delicious); instruction (step-by-step technique, informative recipe head notes, in-depth sidebars); and information (a front-of-book section devoted to buying the best ingredients; columns that address real-life issues; and features that entice through new ideas and luscious photography.) Its editors and contributors are among the culinary world’s best food and drink experts, recipe developers, cookbook authors, and chefs.

The EDDIE (editorial) and OZZIE (design) awards are presented annually by FOLIO: magazine, the leading publication for magazine professionals, to recognize excellence in magazine design and editorial.  The largest awards competition in magazine publishing, it is also the only competition for all magazines. A panel of 60 expert judges sifted through more than 2,000 entries for 2010 and selected the most deserving entries to honor among nearly 200 categories.  Fine Cooking has also been honored by FOLIO as the winner of the 2009 Bronze OZZIE award for best consumer magazine redesign.
