Arts & Crafts Made Modern
A new Craftsman kitchen celebrates the timeless ideals of honesty and utility

When it came time for Ed and Kathy to expand the kitchen of their Pittsburgh foursquare, their challenge was to rescue it from a bad 1950s remodel and restore the integrity of its original Arts and Crafts style, which they loved. The answer was a 300-square foot addition that highlights the best of Arts and Crafts design without slavishly following it. Instead, Ed, Kathy, and architect Gerald Morosco modernized the interior by adding elements of the brighter, more open Prairie style.
