| Textures Set the Mood A palette of natural materials and an informal floor plan create a relaxed country home by Jessica Brilliant Keener Charlie Shepherd wanted to build an addition for his old house in Virginia that would evoke a rustic, relaxed lifestyle. Architect Alan Dynerman helped Shepherd create a home that used a variety of local materials -- field stone, cedar posts, rough hewn oak flooring, and stuccoed walls among others -- to give the place an informal feel. The textures of the materials in the open floor plan make a relaxed, comfortable home. |
