![]() ![]() Our new house has seven doors, each leading to a different garden. After a long week in the city, I disappear outdoors, simply enjoying the exhaustion that comes with tending the cosmos, rudbeckias, tall verbenas, and other plants. The gardens are laid out with a certain formality and order -- rectangular beds and straight paths with square flagstone steps -- but we chose grasses and wildflowers, which are always blowing in the breeze, to give them an informal quality.
