Richard Beebe makes a lot of Shaker-style furniture in his Hamden, Connecticut, basement shop, and many of the pieces have tapered legs. His preferred method of tapering is on a tablesaw, but commercially availalble jigs didn't feel safe, so he designed his own. It's featured in the July/August 2005 issue of Fine Woodworking (#178), in an article entitled,"A Better tapering Jig."

In this video Richard demonstrates how his jig makes tapering two- or four-sided legs a cinch.
