Cut List for Pennsylvania Tall Clock

Most of the clock is curly maple, but some parts that don't show are poplar

by William Duckworth

In the July/August 2002 and September/October 2004 issues of Fine Woodworking (#171 and#172), Lonnie Bird documented how he went about building the flat-top tall clock that he designed, which was based on details found on many 18th-century clocks built in and around Pennsylvania. His working cut list appears below. All measurements are listed in inches.

Please note that not all of the measurements listed in the cut list are the final, milled sizes of all of the finished parts; some are working sizes only and may be cut down or milled to smaller dimensions as they are processed to fit. Parts and sizes listed in black type were milled from curly maple. For some parts that do not show in the finished clock, Bird used less expensive poplar, and those parts and sizes are listed in red.
