Editor's Review: 6 Great Miter-Saw Stands
by Rick Arnold, Mike Guertin
review date: September 1, 2007
Of the six miter-saw stands in our test, the Bosch T4B was the easiest to set up. You turn a lever, and as you gently lower the handle, the wheels roll toward you. The saw rises up to work height in one fluid motion.
The dual-tube extension supports are on the short side, with 8-ft. 6-in. overall spread. While the action of extending them is smooth, the work supports are somewhat unstable and don't always support the workpiece fully.
The medium-diameter pneumatic wheels make it easy to pull the saw over rough terrain and up stairs. The short length of the stand when folded requires bending over when pulling it up or rolling it down stairs. But its overall compact length makes it good for transport, and it is extremely stable when stored upright. A top-heavy saw will not flip this stand over. It combines a collapsible base with quick-release saw mounts.
