Fine Homebuilding magazine Chicago Tribune names Fine Homebuilding among America's top 15 magazines Of the 17,500 magazines published in the United States, Fine Homebuilding was named #13 in the Top 50 magazines by the highly respected newspaper. The magazine's ranking was above magazines such as Time, Smithsonian, Washington Monthly, Granta, Dwell, Harper's, Business Week, Outside, Fortune and National Geographic. The paper said, "This Old House has a bigger public-relations machine behind it. But this bimonthly is the unsung gem for knowledgeable do-it-yourselfers with taste, a budget and perhaps a need for scholarly debate on whether vinyl siding belongs on a fine home, not to mention how to install it properly.
