Designing a house doesn't begin with a site plan, a footprint, or even the first floor. The first step is getting to know the people who are going to live there and how they plan to use the space. This home was designed for Phil and Nancy Leinbach, who were making the transition to retirement. They asked architect Tina Govan to design a modest home where they could pare down and live simply and efficiently.
The clients played an active role in designing their house, but were out of town during construction. To keep them up to date on the project, Govan created an Online journal, documenting in photos the home's progress from plan to reality.
