With a haircut twice a year (cut back by a third in February & July) to keep it from getting too scraggly, this is the perfect perennial. Evergreen, full, and a long bloom season, sometimes not stopping all year.

Salvia Greggii grows very well in central Texas. I have several different colors in my yard and the bushes have flowers throughout the year even when other plants have died/become dormant in the cold. Prune to control the size of the bush. I have my plants in areas with limited water and they do well.
