A Room with a View
Design garden scenes that look good from inside the house
by Barbara Blossom Ashmun

When garden designer Barbara Blossom Ashmun is working with a client, she likes to consider the view of the garden from the inside of the house as well as from outside areas. A frequently used home-office window or a window over the kitchen sink is a vantage point that is often overlooked. With some purposeful planning, it's easy to transform a plain or even unsightly view into a beautiful picture, and bring the garden into your home every day of the year. In this article, Ashmun gives us several tips for designing a garden from the inside, where you likely view the garden most frequently. A sidebar features plants suited to close-up and faraway views.
