From Useless to Useful
Learn how these home owners turned their front yard into a welcoming space
by Andrew Schulman

Excellent design happens when a home owner's desires are married to a designer's vision. It was good fortune, then, when a Seattle family saw exactly what they wanted in a front-yard garden right in the pages of Fine Gardening. The designer, Andrew Schulman, was happy to adapt and install his design for the family. Andrew discusses what his philosophy was for this design and why it works in this situation. The front yard is where one's private property meets the public domain. Andrew's article addresses how to combine these two opposing forces into a space that works for everybody.
