Flowering Ground Covers
To blanket an area small or large, these are the perennials to pick
by Nancy Ondra

People are drawn to ground covers for utilitarian reasons. They want plants that will spread over an area and keep weeds out. That these plants should be attractive is a secondary consideration. But there is no reason gardeners can't have a plant that does all these jobs. Plant expert Nancy Ondra has selected her favorite ground covers that do their work while putting on a nice show of flowers. By their nature, ground covers are easy to grow, so the big question is which ones will look best in your situation. Nancy discusses the environments that will benefit from the particular charms of each plant.
