Perennials for the Edge
These short and sweet plants deserve a spot in the front row along beds and walkways and in containers
by Stephanie Cohen

She's just 4 feet 11 inches tall, and it's not unusual to hear garden lecturer and author Stephanie Cohen proclaim her motto "shorter is better." But most of the time it's not vertically challenged people she's referring to, it's plants. In this article, Stephanie shares some of her favorite petite perennials for sunny and shady sites: plants that are ideal for edging containers, paths, walkways, beds, and borders. She describes each plant's notable attributes and basic cultural requirements. She also provides a list of other noteworthy edgers worth considering.
