Matching the Colors of Your House & Garden
A well-coordinated palette enhances and unifies your design
by Sabrena Schweyer

Coordinating the color palette of your house and garden can give your entire property an artful and unified look. One way to link your house and garden is to select a plant palette that enhances the color of your house. In this article, landscape designer Sabrena Schweyer lists six common house colors -- white, yellow, blue, brick red, brown, and beige -- and identifies flower and foliage color schemes that work best with each one. For her own property, Schweyer, the co-owner of Salsbury-Schweyer, Inc., of Akron, Ohio, repainted her house in subdued greens and reds. In a sidebar, she lists some of the plants she used to set off those colors and create a unified design.
