You can use a double action or winged corkscrew but American Master Sommelier Tim Gaiser recommends a "waiter's friend," so called because of its universal use by, you guessed it, waiters. It's like a jackknife, compact, handy and all of the sharp points fold away.
Tim Gaiser is a nationally renowned wine expert and 1 of only 46 American Master Sommeliers. He has experience in all phases of the wine industry — online, wholesale, retail, winery, and restaurant — including stints at Heitz Wine Cellars in the Napa Valley and at the Cypress Club and Bix restaurants in San Francisco. Most recently he spent five years as one of the senior wine merchants at Virtual Vineyards/wine.com.
